We need your prayers

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Heuer Family. We love you! This is My brother writing this about our very close family friends.

Friends,

This week has been the most difficult week I have had to witness in life so far. Last week things started out so great. Some of you may remember my Friend Jens Heuer from Germany. We met as foreign exchange partners in the 9th grade. We have remained close friends. Jens had visited a couple of times through the years. He contacted me months back trying to arrange a family vacation for his family to visit Utah. On April 15th Jens , his wife Katrin, daughter Frida (almost 3 yrs old), and son Jackson (13 month old) arrived at our house. They were so excited to visit Utah, and for Jens to show off his family to all of us. After a short trip to Bryce Canyon that was cut short due to bad weather, they returned back to North Ogden to spend more time here as a family. As I was returning home from work on Thursday I received a phone call saying that their son Jackson had choked on a carrot and had stopped breathing. Jens did everything that he could to dislodge the carrot. Bystanders immediately called 911. Responders were there within minutes. Life Flight was called, and Jackson was flown down to Primary Children's Medical Center. Jens and Katrin were alone in Ogden, not knowing where Primary Children's Hospital was located. A perfect stranger (Margaret from N. Ogden) Told them to follow her and that she would guide them down to Primary Children's Hospital. Gina and I raced down to the hospital. We arrived 2 minutes after Jens and Katrin. They were taken into the back, and we were left to wait in the waiting room with their daughter Frida. After some time we were called back to a room. My heard sunk, Jackson did not make it, he had passed away. A perfect 13 month old little boy returned back to his Father in Heaven. There is so much that we do not understand about this life. My Heart goes out to Jens, Katrin and Frida. It was an awful thing to have "front row seats" to witness the worst thing I have had to see, and at the same time it was an even greater experience to see the rush of love that came flooding in for the Heuers. I am so thankful for an incredible family, friends, ward members, and the best neighbors anyone could ever have. Each of them opened up there hearts to the Heuers. People took our friends into their arms and cried with them as if they had known each other for years. It amazes me how many good people there are all around. We would like to thank you all. Jens, Katrin, and Frida left today to return back to Germany.

We have decided to try to help in the ways that we know how.

We have set up a Memorial fund available at any America First Credit Union Branch. It is set up as the "Jackson Heuer" Memorial Fund. This will directly help cover costs of Medical, Burial, and associated costs to the family.

It has been an honor to have them in our home.
I hope that we can all hold our Families a little closer. It has helped me realize just how fragile life is.

Thank You, The Tippets (Nate, Gina, and Tyler) Written by Nate

Heather, I am so sorry to hear this. It really hits home to me. Jaren was just about that same age, almost 12 months. If you have this family's information I'd love to email them. Are they members of the church? I hope so. I don't know how else to deal with stuff like this than through the Gospel.

Oh my goodness. That is the saddest thing I could imagine. We'll be praying for them. It makes me so happy that we all have the gospel. Thanks for sharing this though.

I know that there are lots of books out there for people who "lose" a family member, but after losing my sister (also my best friend) to cancer, "The Message" was the best book for me. I read it in 2 hours (easy reading) and was so uplifted, I could never look at her death as a sorrowful experience, despite the pain I felt losing her. It's at Deseret Book for $10 with a coupon I believe. Anyway, if they read English well enough I highly recommend it.

These posts are hard to read, but at the same time, I learned that when it's a person's time to pass away, then they will. How fortunate this family is to have been in a place with lots of support and love, and strong spiritual ties. That is probably one of the best gifts to receive from a Father in Heaven during a time like this.

I wish I could have met them and given them hugs too! They'll be in our prayers for sure!
