Pom Pom Jester Hat

I had this project done last week and it felt like forever until I got to post about it. This was a very fun project and really much more simple than I had expected. I found the pattern HERE . So much fun to make and you can do it with different colors or the same like I did. I made a couple of variations for this hat. I didn't use 4 separate pieces. I just used 2 because I had the same fabric all the way around. Also I added a little of the extra green dot fabric that I had to the rim. It is easy to customize it.
Have fun and happy sewing!

P.S. Stay tuned for next week....I will be announcing what you can win and how to win it!

6 Months!

Everyone was right when they said that time just goes faster and faster the older your baby gets! (His 6 month birthday was on the 10th) I am late on this post too...oops, at least it is only 6 days late. I'm getting better! :) Carsen is so much fun to have around! He has started to have a bit of an attachment to me (which melts my heart! I secretly love it) If anyone else is holding him, he makes sure that he can see me or wants to check to make sure it is ok that someone else is holding him. What a funny boy!
Carsen is such a blessing in our lives, we love to watch him learn and grow. I am truly amazed on a daily basis at how much Heavenly Father has a hand in our lives and I can't even begin to think how hard it is to let his children go to this earth. I only hope that I can be the kind of mother Carsen deserves and try to help him learn all he can. I love to see him look at pictures of Heavenly Father. It is so sweet. I would love to know what is going through his head. Babies know so much more than we could never imagine!
Also I want to let Keith know how much we appreciate all he does for us. With everything he has going he is so good to make time for us and play with Carsen. I know Carsen looks forward to bath time each night. (Keith almost always gives him his bath) It is so sweet to see how much he loves spending time with you. Thank you for making it so I can be home with my baby. You will never know how much that means to me. We love you

Carsen has been to the doctor a few times lately with ear infections but this time was just his check up, yay!!!

His newest stats are:
20 lbs......85%
27 1/2 inches...85%
He is so rolie polie and I love it!

Here are a few of his newest favorite things:
~He loves to play in water and splashes like crazy
~He loves to pound on the computer keyboard
~He loves to scratch anything and everything to feel the textures
~He loves to give kisses
~He loves to jump jump jump :)
~He loves Daddy getting him out of his crib in the morning
~He loves to roll
~He loves loves hanging out with his Bop-pa.
~He loves the vacuum. He can't keep his eyes off it
~He loves "5 little monkeys and the alligator" he totally cracks up
~He has become a much better eater and I think he actually likes green beans :)
~He want to grab everything we are eating.
~He loves to drink water out of our cups
~And last but not least, He loves to play with his friend Brecklyn!

Here are a couple of pics from the last couple of days, we haven't done his 6 month pictures yet but I will post them as soon as I get them!
We love you Carsen, you are our sweet boy!!

Fleece Blanket

Ok, so I know tying a fleece blanket is not new to anyone but I saw a new way to tie it that I really liked because it lays flatter and it was really easy! I'm not sure if you can see in the pictures very well but it is pretty much just a flip through. I just cut the fleece into strips with my pinking shears like usual and then I took some scissors and cut about a 1/2" size hole about 1/4" up from the base of the fleece tag. Then I just pushed the top through the hole and pull. I think it is quite a bit faster than the knot method...that I really liked!

P.S. I noticed that it seems to be on Thursdays when I get around to posting about the craft of the week. So I am officially calling Thursdays my craft day and I will try to have a new project posted every Thursday.

Also I am thinking about doing a giveaway (i'm not sure what the contest would be yet). Let me know what you all think, and if you would like to win something I make!
Don't forget to be a follower of my blog so you don't miss out on the projects and the contest!

Luv, Heather

Project #2...Taggie Blanket Toy

This was such a fun project to make, I don't have a link to anything for this one. Because I saw it at a friends house (thanks Brandi) Her mom had made one for her little girl and I thought it was darling and Carsen loved all the textures.
I just went to the fabric store which is having a sale (40% off) on all fleece! I got a couple of yards....more fleece projects to come!
I just cut a 18x18 inch square out of the fleece and the softie green fabric. I don't know what they call it but it is very soft and it has those little bumps on it. Then I just picked out 12 or 13 different ribbons and bindings with different colors and textures. Note: the fabric store will cut pieces down to 4in in size mine were 6 in and it made then really inexpensive.
Then I put right sides together and ribbons inbetween with edges to edges and pinned the ribbons in place. Then sew around almost the entire square until you have about 4-6 inches left on one side and then flip it right side out and sew rest of edges together. Vioala!!! What a cute quite toy! Carsen loves it as you can see!
Good luck and happy sewing!

New Hobby!

So I have decided that I have a new found hobby....Sewing and fun with fabric stuff! I love it. It is so much fun to find new projects and even better when they are totally useful!
I want to try to do a project a week and post about it, (that is my goal) but don't hate me if I miss a week :) I will also try to add the link to where I find the ideas or the instructions if any of you want to make them. And please let me know if you have any questions, I am still very much an amateur but I'm hoping that practice will pay off and I will get better :)
Oh....and please let me know if any of you have done any projects that you would like to see done and I will try to do it. Or if you have done any that you really liked. I would love to try them out, and I need lots of ideas!
Wish me luck on a new adventure!

Rolling and Random Cuteness

Carsen has finally started rolling quite a bit more. He is just so content at sitting that he hasn't really cared to start the rolling process, he just lays on his belly and look around. What a funny boy. Here are a few action pics of him rolling.

I couldn't help but take pictures of him after church last week, he was so dang cute and giggly. He cracks me up. I love how his little face lights up when he smiles.
