Fun projects

After trying to wrap Carsen in his baby towels and it not covering all of him enough to keep him nice and warm I was bound and determined to find him a good, thick and bigger towel with a hood. I don't know if you have ever looked in the store for something with all of those qualities, but it is impossible to find. So.....I decided to I decided to try my hand at making one myself. I found some really nice and thick towels at TJmaxx and borrowed the sewing machine and serger from the stake.
I am definitely no seamstress, but I think they turned out ok! I only sewed one thing on backward but it still works great :) I found a crafty blog that had a pattern and instructions to make one with little bear ears so I tried it on the one. pretty cute!

I have gotten so excited about sewing and different projects that I just went and got stuff to make another fun project....stay tuned!

Here are some of the pictures of the during after and in use.

Bradford Look-alike Meter

So Heather saw this look-alike meter on a friends blog and thought it would be fun to have a computer tell us who Carsen looks most like. Apparently comments and reassurance from family and friends just wasn't enough? I hate to be the negative one but I for one think it's totally bogus. I was hoping for decisive results but of course it ended in a dead even tie. I really think that the 50-50 thing is code for the look-alike meter saying 'These people don't look a thing alike.' It's a default when it can't figure who looks like who most. I have to admit though, it was fun to watch the computer profile and analyze our faces like some FBI database! Plus I suppose it does validate what most people say about Carsen looking like both of us. What a cute boy!!

5 Months!

Oh how I love this little man!!! I am only 10 days late on this post, but I just have so many things that I would love to write about him. To keep it shorter than a novel I will just try to list the new and so cute things that Carsen is doing and learning all the time!! He is learning so fast and is so observant.
Carsen is such a sweet baby and so happy!! We feel so blessed to have him in our family!
~He is such a loving little boy! He will always give me hugs and kisses after I feed him, like a little thank you.
~He smiles at everyone and laughs all the time
~He loves to watch people (gets that from his momma!) especially little kids close to his own size
~He has so many little rolls, I love them all!
~He has learned to roll from belly to back (but doesn't really understand why we cheer for him)
~He loves loves loves his daddy!
~He really likes Oatmeal w/bananas and Sweet Potatoes, but not rice cereal
~Hates a bottle but likes a sippy cup
~He is growing lots of very very blonde hair and has 2 little cowlick's that make it go into a fohawk with no other choice! so cute
~He sleeps so much better in his swaddle wrap
~He isn't sleeping through the night yet (he used to)....we're working on it. ANY SUGGESTIONS???
~Loves to stare at his hand then bring it down to his binky then pull it out and most of the time can get it back in
~He is so loud when you get him talking or if you help him make the "ba ba ba" noise (bop-pa taught him that one )
~His feet are still the only thing not really chubby! so funny!
~No teeth yet, although he drools like crazy and chews on everything.
~He is so patient with me trying to learn what he likes and wants.
~His smile makes everything better!!!
~He loves his books and has started liking to grab and turn the pages
~He loves music and cracks up to the song "Hakuna Matata"

There are so many things that are not on this list that I could go on and on, but to sum it up.....we are so thankful to our Heavenly Father for sending us such a special little boy with such a sweet spirit. We love you Bug-a-boo!!

By the way....There is 4 more days left to vote if you haven't already. Just click on the link on the Vote for Carsen post. Thanks!

Our 1st family vacation!

For a while now Keith and I have been wanting to go away somewhere for a night just the three of us. We had a bunch of points built up that we didn't know about till just a few weeks ago and decided to use them on a free night at the Salt Lake Marriott and breakfast buffet. We stayed over from Friday to Saturday, we went out for sushi Friday night and everyone there kept looking at us funny because we had a baby with us or something. I thought it was no big deal, he slept most of the time and we really enjoy him being with us.
We had such a nice time and I would totally recommend staying there and the breakfast was great!!!
We also took Carsen Swimming for the first time while we were there. He was so relaxed and just loved the water! He is so chubby that his little bum pretty much floated on its own! So funny! I love family vacations, can't wait to go again soon!

Merry Christmas!!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. It is so much fun to have Carsen this year. He didn't really get what was going on, but loved the tissue paper. It was quite the reality check on how fast time goes when we realized that one year as of Christmas eve had passed since we told our families that we were going to have Carsen.
This year we got lucky and our families have done all of the holidays on separate days so we were able to be a part of all the fun. The day before Christmas eve, there is a tradition in Keith's family that Santa comes while you are asleep and counts the noses of everyone who has been good and marks your nose with soot from the chimney, so that he knows who to bring presents to. So we woke up to all of our noses counted. I guess we have been good this year, yay!!
We did Christmas Eve mostly with just our own little family making yummy candy and chocolate popcorn.(thanks for the recipe miss) and then drove down later that night so we would be there for the morning fun! Then we did Christmas Day with my family and went to Alvin and the Chipmunks (the squeakual) which Carsen loved... he wouldn't take his eyes off the screen! Then we did all of Keith's family Christmas the day after. It really made the season so nice and relaxed this year.
We have so much to be grateful for this season and are so thankful for the gospel and our Heavenly Father in our lives.
We are so thankful for our families and would not be where we are today without them. Thank you all for a wonderful Christmas season. It couldn't have been better!

Here are a few pictures of Carsen's first Christmas....so much fun!!! Love you sweet boy!
